Boikanyo, The Dion Herson Foundation is spearheading an outreach project to change lives and provide buggies to children suffering from cerebral palsy in Sekhukhune, Limpopo.
Johannesburg, South Africa (23 January 2025) – Children suffering from the mobility constraints associated with cerebral palsy in the forgotten community of Sekhukhune in Limpopo will get to experience a new wave of hope, confidence and movement.
Thanks to Boikanyo The Dion Herson Foundation, an outreach project is currently being planned to distribute buggies (specialised wheelchairs) to the area to bring relief to children and families who endure daily hardships in carrying out some of the most basic of tasks.
No child should struggle with simple activities like moving around the house or sitting up to enjoy a meal. This is a significant part of Boikanyo’s mission. In March, the foundation plans to provide essential aid and mobility support.
Mobility aids offer not just comfort, but a sense of belonging and confidence.
The Boikanyo team received 30 buggies last week and are actively sourcing additional buggies from various public health facilities and organisations. They are also working to secure sponsorships for new buggies to ensure that every child in Sekhukhune who needs one receives it.
They are also in need of baby buggies for many little ones. These offer support in seating a baby with cerebral palsy correctly, preventing further suffering from contorted bodies.
A donation can help a child with cerebral palsy sit up for the very first time, watch the world unfold from a new perspective, and share in moments many of us take for granted.
To support this cause visit the Boikanyo donations page.
