Today’s festive hero is a very brave raccoon and the star of another Christmas advert that has us very much in our feels! If you needed a reminder about what the spirit of giving means, this little story is exactly that:

Global (07 November 2023) — The bravest raccoon and a special Christmas mission have us very much in our feels thanks to a Christmas advert that’s all about going the extra mile when it comes to giving.

Sometimes the smallest gifts come from the biggest efforts, and that’s exactly what UK grocer Lidl’s Christmas ad for a toy drive depicts.

Through the eyes of a brave raccoon with a big heart, the short tale tells the story of a family dog who clumsily breaks a beloved gorilla ornament, leading to a disheartened little boy.

The raccoon looks in on the situation from the cold of a tree hollow outside, but soon finds himself in a position to make matters right.

After the boy’s mother buys her child a monkey plush toy (an adorable replacement for the shattered ornament), the monkey’s journey to his new owner is interrupted by fate.

Luckily, the raccoon happens to be in the right alley at just the right time, which leads him to take on the important role of getting the monkey to its owner, even though this is no small assignment when you’re a little raccoon!

With 007 skills and tenacity, the raccoon embarks on a journey like no other; putting himself at great risks to protect the gift and complete the mission.

We won’t spoil the end, but it is a deeply heartwarming one, and envelopes a special reminder about what the spirit of giving actually means—effort, thoughtfulness and a willingness to go the extra mile to bring others joy, even if they are strangers. Sometimes it comes back around (watch the ad to the end!) and sometimes its the warmth of knowing that you invited joy into another’s heart.
