Get ready to spread the jam! With the new school year just around the corner, the WAS Foundation is launching a special “Jamuary” campaign. Every tin donated helps the foundation prepare delicious and nutritious sandwiches for hundreds of children who might otherwise go hungry.

Krugersdorp West, South Africa (05 January 2025) – We’re well within January and for many parents, this means it’s back to school in a little over a week. Malls and shopping centres are about to be a frenzy with stationery, uniforms, and school supplies, as folks get their little (and not so little) ready for the school year ahead.

Over at the WAS Foundation headquarters, the volunteers are already preparing for the mammoth task ahead to ensure that many youngsters start the year strong and don’t go a day without a nourishing meal.

While you’re busy drafting your shopping list or pushing your trolley down the sandwich spreads aisle, the organisation kindly asks that you consider adding a tin of jam or two to support their cause. This will go a really long way in preparing yummy sarmies for many less fortunate children.

“Our soup kitchen uses 2 x 900g tins of jam every day to prepare lunchbox sandwiches.

“With 200 school days in 2025, we’ll need 400 tins of jam to ensure each child receives at least one jam sandwich per school day. That will help us to reach our goal of 36,000 sandwiches for 2025,” appeals Esmarelda of the WAS Foundation.

So, if you can, why not consider playing your part in making this January an epic “Jamuary”, that will not only fuel many promising futures but also make many eager little ones very full and happy!

Alternatively, you can order online and have it delivered to 71 Tanner Street, Krugersdorp West.
