The South African Culinary Team is flying the flag high in Germany and have already earned a bronze medal thanks to Chef Nicolas van der Walt.

 

Stuttgart, Germany (17 February 2020) – South Africa’s Culinary Olympic team (Team SA) have set their sights on making South Africans proud and bringing home a gold medal. The team are currently at the 25th IKA Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany, which is running from 14 to 19 February.

Chef Nicolas van der Walt won a Bronze Medal in Category D for his sugar workpiece “King for a Day”. The beautiful piece features South Africas beautiful king protea. The sugar showpiece was an individual entry.

Chef Nicolas has an incredible talent, the work he put into this piece shows not only his talent but his love and pride for South Africa.

The team went on to prepare for their 7-course event for the Chef’s Table. Their theme “Sands of Time” saw chef Nicolas creating another beautiful showpiece.
