A thoughtful gesture from the Gift of the Givers made a world of difference for the elderly at Mothwa Haven Dreamview, bringing smiles, comfort, and goods to help them through hard seasons.
Rewlatch, South Africa (11 March 2025) – In a world sometimes too busy to notice, a gentle reminder of kindness shone brightly this week. Amidst the rush of daily life, a team from Gift of the Givers paused to remember those whose stories stretched across many years, those who had built the world we live in.
Bringing joy to the elderly was on the agenda for a Johannesburg-based team of volunteers who paid a heartfelt visit to Mothwa Haven Dreamview, an old-age home in Rewlatch.
It was a visit filled with warmth and simple acts of love, a moment to share a little light with those who had seen so much of life. The team also came bearing goods and essential provisions for the 66 elderly residents.
The old age home provides a supportive and independent living environment, where each resident lives in their own unit. Caring nurses visit each unit weekly to provide medical care and check on their well-being.
Despite this care, the residents, who rely on their grants to cover a small portion of their fees, often struggle to make ends meet, particularly when it comes to everyday meals.
Compelled to bring some much-needed relief, Gift of the Givers stepped in to bridge this gap, with each resident receiving a special hamper containing mealie meal, a 5kg bag of butternut, a spice pack, detergents and candies!
It was more than just a delivery; it was a moment of connection, a reminder that they are seen, cherished, and cared for – something every ouma and oupa could really do with a lot of!
