Long study sessions and challenging assessments have paid off many Mpumalanga youth! The Good Work Foundation recently celebrated the achievements of its Bridging Year Academy students with a joyous graduation ceremony.

Mpumalanga, South Africa (08 January 2025) – Donned in black graduation gowns, their finest threads and wide smiles, the students of the Good Work Foundation (GWF) could barely contain their excitement at a recently held graduation ceremony, celebrating their hard work and achievements.

Spirits were high as students collected their certificates at GWF’s four Mpumalanga satellite campuses in Huntington, Lillydale, Justicia and Dumphries for the Bridging Year Academy students.

Relevant to today’s career and job market demands, the Bridging Year Academy programme is a year-long course with seven streams that aim to “bridge the gap” between what young people may have learnt in high school and what they need to know in the 21st-century workplace, at university or college, or as aspiring entrepreneurs.

“There’s nothing more exciting than seeing our graduates and their families come together to mark such a significant milestone. It’s a joy to witness these moments of accomplishment and growth,” GWF shared online.

Empowering young people with opportunities

In other youth empowerment news, those in the organisation’s Hospitality Academy team had the privilege of attending a special gathering to learn about the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative.

This programme offers 12-month job placements in green tourism for unemployed youth and graduates in Mpumalanga, underscoring GWF’s commitment to empowering young people with opportunities for growth and success.

“GWF already sees many of our graduates entering into internships with YES, and we were honoured to join forces with the University of Mpumalanga and other Greater Kruger training institutions to support this event.”

We hope 2025 brings great success and rewarding opportunities for these deserving graduates and hard-working students!
