New York, United States of America (07 December 2020) – Greg Dean, born and raised in Johannesburg, has received a Grammy nomination for composing the song ‘Let Me Go’. The award nomination category is Best Traditional R&B Performance.
Greg moved to New York six years ago and started working on Let Me Go with singer Mykal Kilgore. The song and Mykal were named in the nomination, but it turns out that all parties involved in a song are recipients of the Grammy nominations and potential win.
“6 years ago I came to New York, not knowing what lay ahead.
5 years ago this guy and I started working on a song together.
3 days ago we found out that song, Let Me Go, was nominated for a Grammy Award – Best Traditional R&B Performance.
Last night I found out the nomination includes the songwriters as well as the artist, so it officially became my first composer Grammy nomination.
I still don’t know what lies ahead… but I hope it continues!”
This nomination is great news for Greg. He was also recently credited as a producer for three songs in the upcoming Life Time Christmas movie titled Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding. Greg’s star is rising!
