In the last ten years, the loving volunteers at Heartlands Baby Sanctuary have embraced more than 400 precious lives, offering them holistic care and a nurturing environment during their most vulnerable moments.
Somerset West, South Africa (07 May 2025) – In Somerset West, a sanctuary has existed for an amazing 10 years, giving so many little lives a sense of belonging and love.
The Heartlands Baby Sanctuary celebrated a decade of touching and positively impacting every child brought through its doors, yesterday.
The celebration involved volunteers and previous employers who had been with the charity since its inception, coming together to commemorate the strides they had made in providing holistic care and a temporary, residential place of safety for orphaned and vulnerable children from birth to the age of six.
“These are little ones who have been abandoned, abused, orphaned, neglected and moderately ill. In our 10 years, we have cared for over 420 children, leaving them with a lifetime positive change, with an intention of giving them a second chance at life,” Heartlands said.
With such a milestone already achieved as an organisation, Heartlands looks to continue to live up to the mission of giving every child their birthright to belong by providing a safe, loving and homely environment.
“Our future lies in their hands, and it is our responsibility to ensure that they get quality health, psychosocial and developmental care, through our individualised care plans.”
