Sometimes the greatest act of love is ensuring a child has a path to a brighter future, even when that journey starts with a very difficult choice.

Hillcrest, South Africa (05 March 2026) – There is no greater gift you can give a child than the feeling of being deeply loved. Due to many different reasons and circumstances, some mothers find themselves unable to do this.

The House of Love and Hope’s (HOLAH) Vikela Baby Saver, placed at Siyajabula Trust in Molweni, provides a safe and anonymous option for mothers who feel they have no other choice but to safely relinquish their child.

“We strongly encourage any mother in crisis to first reach out for support. There are social workers, counsellors, and organisations like us, ready to walk alongside you to listen, to guide, and to help you explore every possible option before making such a decision. You are not alone, even if it feels that way,” HOLAH shares.

The organisation says that the Baby Saver offers protection in a moment of crisis and a way for a mother to ensure her baby is safe, cared for, and given a future filled with love.

“We do not judge. We do not condemn. We simply protect life. Because sometimes, choosing safety is the bravest act of love,” HOLAH emphasises.

Based in Hillcrest, HOLAH, also known as iThemba Likhona, believes in the potential of every child, no matter their background, where they come from or what they have been through. It is run by a team that is dedicated to providing a safe and loving family environment for those children who are left with no one.

They are passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and encourage the public to share about their Baby Saver, which exists as a last resort and a place of safety when all other doors feel closed.

“We have had mothers choose to safely relinquish their babies in the baby saver, as opposed to other options, because they have seen us on social media – you never know who your post may reach.”
