Morgan Brink is making special memories, raising kibble, and spreading kindness with her annual pet drive photoshoots.
Johannesburg, South Africa (13 August 2025) – Smile for the camera, help a shelter. That’s the idea behind Neon Productions’ annual pet drive, a weekend of family photo sessions (furkids included) where the fee and pet-food donations translate into real support for animals in shelters.
Morgan Brink is a mom, animal lover and proud owner of the Jozi-based photography company. Her annual project turns pet portraits into full bowls for animals in need.
“Once a year I run a pet drive over a full weekend, where we offer a family photoshoot with furkids for R500. The fee includes a dog or cat food donation, and 50% of the money raised goes to an animal charity in need,” says Morgan, who has helped more than six shelters with critical food donations over the years – thanks to her clients in front of the lens.
The project sees the two-man team book 30 families over the course of a weekend. In the past, they’ve raised up to R10,000 and a mountain of food for shelters. This year, Brink’s mission is bigger.
“We want to reach 60 families, double the donations, and give families memories that last forever!”
This year’s drive is on the horizon, with Brink aiming for the 29th and 30th of November at the Bryanston Pine Forest. Her mission is to reel other vendors in to the event, and support other small businesses, all while raising critical funds and food for sheltered animals.
“While the pros work the lenses, families can grab a coffee, meet fellow animal lovers, and be part of something properly feel-good,” says Morgan.
Over the years, proceeds and pet food have supported a who’s-who of hardworking local rescues. Kitty and Puppy Haven, Woodrock Animal Rescue, FORA, Pitbull Rescue, SAINTs Animal Charity and SPCA Randburg.
For Morgan, it’s simple. Show up, show love, and pay it forward.
“I am extremely passionate about this project and want to pay it forward.”
We love it. A family portrait is a memory you keep forever; the kindness it funds is a difference animals feel right now. It’s peak Joburg, community rolling up its sleeves and making magic out of an ordinary weekend.
