Best buddies Marlowe and Ozzie, two rescue doggos who shared a kennel and a special bond for the longest time, were separated when one of them got adopted. But the best ending unfolded when the same family who took Ozzie returned to meet Marlowe!
Gauteng, South Africa (24 April 2025) -Two special rescue doggos, Marlowe and Ozzie, who had been kennel mates for a long time, found their paths parting ways when Ozzie was adopted by Kim and her family from Paws R Us: SA last November.
While the animal welfare organisation was eternally grateful to Kim, who had adopted from the charity several times before, seeing these two furry buddies apart proved rather bittersweet for the team.
“We’d hoped for a home together. However, if you are in animal rescue, you also know that double adoptions are scarce, and that you’d rather have dogs homed and blessed than constantly have them wait and wait for blessings that may never come.
“Rightfully so, Kim and family had to consider their other dogs in the home, and their financial, physical and other forms of ‘readiness’,” Paws R Us shares.
In the meantime, the organisation continued networking with Marlowe, hoping and praying that the little guy would find his happily ever after, too.
And… something truly magical was in the works!
Kim and her family contacted Paws R Us to ask if they could come and meet Marlowe last Sunday, and the best thing happened, Marlow went home with Kim and the two besties are now reunited!
“Thank you, Kim, for opening your heart to our furry kids. For choosing to adopt. For being sensible about timing and readiness, and coming back to bless our Marlowe boy. We are so very happy.”
What a touching full-circle moment, bringing joy not just to Ozzie and Marlowe but to the dedicated people who work tirelessly to give them (and many others) a second chance.
