Eli, a one-year-old toddler facing mobility challenges, has had his life wonderfully transformed by a gift from thousands of miles away!
Cape Town, South Africa (12 March 2025) – A little boy’s life has been changed in the best way, thanks to help that came from the other side of the world!
Little Eli, just one year old, needed a wheelchair to help him explore the world around him due to mobility challenges.
Determined to get this toddler moving around, The Children’s Hospital Trust got in touch with Bella’s Bumbas a charity dedicated to ensuring that all children facing mobility challenges have access to the tools they need to thrive.
Based in New York, Bella’s Bumbas began with the intention of providing one little girl, Bella born with Spina Bifida, with a means to become mobile and navigate the world on her own. That initial intention has blossomed into an organisation, which has provided over 3,000 chairs to children worldwide!
Recently, Eli got to be among thousands of little ones to receive the gift of mobility.
According to the Children’s Hospital Trust, Eli and his family were over the moon with joy when they received the colourful wheelchair.
An adorable video shared by the Trust on Facebook shows the little boy being carefully placed and strapped in his new wheelchair and waste no time in attempting to navigate his way in his new wheels!
“A massive thank you to Bella’s Bumbas for making such a meaningful difference in Eli’s life,” Children’s Hospital Trust said.
Thanks to the generosity of a charity who deeply understands the importance of freedom and movement in a young life, this special boy can now get to explore, learn, and grow!

Hi Goodthingsguy
I really do appreciate the good coverage you give to issues related to disability.
However, please be careful of falling into the inspitation porn trap. It is a serious issue that unwittingly does immense damage to the cause of disability rights and the equality of people with disabilities. Please see this article for a discussion of the issue. https://www.psychologytoday.com/za/blog/full-catastrophe-parenting/202206/what-is-inspiration-porn-and-why-does-it-matter
