Rainbows and Smiles transformed a hospital ward into a haven of joy this week, celebrating the incredible strength of young cancer patients!
Gauteng, South Africa (09 March 2025) – Ice cream, bell ringing and big smiles! This was the order of the day during a paediatric hospital visit by the Rainbow and Smiles team this week.
Spirits were high, and excitement was in the air as the team celebrated children who got to “ring the bell”, marking the completion of their cancer treatments and a new chapter of hope and triumph.
The overwhelming mixture of joy, relief and emotion at the end of a tremendously trying journey for a young life is enough to move anyone to tears, and the Rainbow and Smiles team couldn’t agree more.
“Watching the children finish treatment was pure joy—so much pride, happiness, and a few happy tears,” the team said.
As a charitable foundation dedicated to providing emotional, social and financial support to children diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening illness, cultivating moments of happiness is at the heart of Rainbows and Smiles, and what better way to do this than to host a day filled with laughter, play, and delicious ice cream!
The day was a celebration of young warriors who, despite facing numerous hospital visits, long stays in the pediatric oncology ward, and intense treatment procedures, have persevered and now look forward to a life filled with endless possibilities.
Rainbows and Smiles thanked its sponsors and donors who make everything they do possible as well as for the ice-cream machine which brought much good vibes and sticky fingers!
