Mariah Carey has Kicked Off the Holiday Season with a new Christmas Special

The Queen of Christmas presents a star-studded spectacular… and a new festive song to go with it!


Johannesburg, South Africa (05 December 2020) – Mariah Carey has released a new Christmas special, which debuted on AppleTV+ on December 4.

Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special includes musical performances and animation sequences and feature appearances from Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, and more.

“Faced with a holiday cheer crisis, the North Pole knows there’s only one person who can save the day: Santa Claus’s great friend, Mariah Carey. Combining musical performances” from Carey, Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson, “dynamic dancing and groundbreaking animation, the undisputed Queen of Christmas jumps into action to create a holiday spectacular to make the whole world merry.”

The special is accompanied by a soundtrack featuring a new version of Carey’s “Oh Santa!” featuring Grande and Hudson, plus more reinterpretations.

Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special (Apple TV+ Original Soundtrack) is the second soundtrack album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey. The soundtrack was released exclusively on Apple Music and iTunes Store on December 4, 2020, and is set to be released on all other platforms on December 11, 2020. The soundtrack will feature a variety of musical guests, including Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Jermaine Dupri and Snoop Dogg.

Its first single, a re-recorded version of Carey’s original Christmas song “Oh Santa!”, originally released in 2010 as the lead single from Carey’s second Christmas album Merry Christmas II You, was released across all platforms on December 4. The new version includes Grande and Hudson as featured artists along with a music video.

Alongside “Oh Santa!”, the soundtrack will include a brand new rendition of Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride”.

On December 1, 2020, Carey took part in a game of “Song Association” with Elle magazine and revealed that “Joy to the World” would be performed on the special.
