Miss South Africa 2018

Tamaryn Green has been crowned Miss South Africa 2018. The 23-year-old is a medical student from Paarl in the Western Cape. These are the prizes she gets for winning the title.

 

Miss South Africa celebrated it’s 60thAnniversary Diamond Jubilee in grand style. Tamaryn Green will walk away with a prize package of more than R3 million, the largest in the history of the event. The prizes make the pageant one of the richest beauty competitions in the world.

You may have noticed that this year the pageant made a change to its format. According to the website, this was done so that the final two ladies will be able to go forward and represent SA in the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants respectively.

“Following the cut to the top five finalists, the organisers will go straight to a top two announcement. One of the pair will be named Miss World South Africa and one will receive the title of Miss Universe South Africa. Both will go on to represent South Africa on the global stage in each respective competition.”

The two winners were asked one final question by the judges to determine who would be the reigning Miss South Africa of 2018. Tamaryn Green was crowned Miss SA and Miss Universe South Africa. Runner-up, Thulisa Keyi was crowned as Miss World South Africa.

“The winner will receive R1 million in cash from Cell C and Sun International as well as the use of a fully furnished and serviced apartment for the year of reign, a Nissan Qashqai worth R445 500 and the use of designer garments for her red carpet looks.”

The runner-up takes R600 000 – a R250 000 cash prize and R350 000 in prizes.
