Nomzamo Mbatha’s role as Queen Nandi not only earned her international recognition but also showcased the rich heritage of South African culture.

 

South Africa (26 August 2024) – The ever-so-gorgeous and multitalented Nomzamo Mbatha made South Africa beam with pride after she was announced as the Best African Actress at the 2024 Septimius Awards held in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Held last week, the Septimius Awards are a big deal in the film industry. They focus on finding and supporting new filmmakers and their creative projects, from movies to TV shows and animations.

Nomzamo’s raw and captivating performance as Queen Nandi in Shaka iLembe has not only earned her international recognition but has also showcased the beauty and richness of Zulu culture.

Based on the historical story of Shaka Zulu, the series showcases Zulu culture, language, and traditions, providing a sense of pride and connection for many South Africans.

Shaka iLembe also won in the Best Costume Design category. It celebrates the rich heritage of the Zulu nation and its contributions to South African history. Nomzamo beautifully captured the essence, struggles, and strength of the woman and mother, Queen Nandi.

“Coming back home with a little extra weight in my luggage. God’s dream for my life is pretty cool to witness. Thankful for the spirit of surrender and hard work: to trust in the journey and believe in the kept promises,” a grateful Nomzamo expressed in a post where she also acknowledged the support and powerhouse behind her success.

On and off the screen, making a meaningful impact is at the centre of Nomzamo’s impact as she has been serving as a LuQuLuQu High Profile Supporter for several years and was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, in January 2019, the UN Refugee Agency reports.

Her unwavering support for refugees and her dedication to social justice demonstrate her genuine compassion and desire to make a positive impact on the world.

Beyond her acting career, Nomzamo’s commitment to humanitarian work makes her an inspiration to many!
