The Maletsatsi Foundation needs a helping hand in delivering its Archie’s Archives, small decorated library units that hold comfort books for young warriors in hospitals, to many more hospitals in the country.

Midrand, South Africa (13 November 2025) – To help bring a little bit of magic and wonder to children facing illness, injuries and other complications, The Maletsatsi Foundation created Archie’s Archives.

These are small, decorated units filled with books to comfort children in hospital and a beautiful legacy to Archie Gray, a little boy gone too soon after a brave battle with a terminal illness.

These books are gifts to parents and their little fighters in the ICU. Unlike shared libraries that pose a risk of germ transfer, these sanitised packs of beautiful books are lovingly put together with parents and new babies in mind and are a little present to them at the start of their ICU journey.

“Great care goes into ensuring that each pack feels like a beautiful gift designed specifically for a child. We want parents and children to know they are seen and loved.

“Each Archive is filled by me, Archie’s Mum, as often as needed, with sealed gift packs, and the little parcels are free of charge to parents entering the ICU. The hope is that we can share some of the healing journey of reading with every family in the trenches of ICU,” shared Maletsatsi Foundation co-founder, Tiffini Heins.

The journey began at Netcare Sunninghill, where the first mobile library box was delivered. Now the organisation needs help in getting Archie’s Archives to more hospitals in the country.

“We are pretty desperate to get four Archie’s Archives to hospitals in Cape Town, Richards Bay and Gqeberha.

“The units are packed and ready to spread some of Archie’s joy with families in the trenches of the pediatric ICUs. But for months now, we’ve been struggling to find a company that can transport these precious units for us, without costing an absolute fortune, which we just don’t have right now,” Tiffini shares in a recent post.

Despite the Foundation’s efforts to get reasonable quotes with courier companies, all those they have reached out to have come back with quotes that are just out of their budget.

Tiffini and the team are now reaching out to the greater public to help transport and deliver these little libraries, where they will brighten the days of countless little warriors.

“We’d be so incredibly grateful if anyone knew of a company or could assist in getting these very special little libraries to their designated homes. [To have] them sitting with the treasury of books they’re currently holding feels criminal.”

The dimensions of Archie’s Archives are:

  • 1679 x 350 x 500
  • Weight: 65kg
