The Hogsback community are being treated to a pay-it-forward Christmas dinner, and all they need to do in return is clothe a child or feed a dog.
Hogsback, South Africa (14 December 2023) – Faye from the King’s Lodge Hotel shared the wonderful news that the team are planning a community Christmas dinner as a way to pay it forward to various community projects. The deal is, that patrons can have a three-course meal for “free” but must bring dog food and a child’s gift to the value of R100.
The best part about this community dinner is that once the giving back has taken place, the community can bond and be merry.
“King’s Lodge Hotel are passionate about our local community and this year we will be having a “locals Christmas Dinner” to thank our locals for their continuous support throughout the year.
We have decided to do something a little different by having a “Pay it Forward” Christmas Dinner. This means that there is no charge for the delicious 3 Course Christmas Dinner, but we ask that each guest bring a tin or small bag of dog food AND a small gift to the value of R100.
Gifts for children aged 3 to 11 – Colouring books, Dolls, cars, tea sets and soft toys .I have the ages of the children. As I have been doing this for years with the previous hotel I managed for Murray I can give you some ideas if need be.”
The children’s gifts will be sent to the Children’s Oncology ward at Frere Hospital and the dog food will be sponsored to Nic from Hogs Dogs in Hogsback.
Manager Faye took time to also thank the hotel’s owners, Murray and Lisa Walker, for their efforts in creating a workplace that means a great deal to all its employees.
“A very big thank you to Murray and Lisa Walker for allowing this wonderful initiative. We are often asked why we LOVE our jobs so much….we work for the best and are treated as family and not employees. Murray and Lisa’s love, compassion and kindness is present in our lives daily.
The spirit of Christmas is the spirit of love and of generosity and of goodness. It illuminates the picture window of the soul, and we look out upon the world’s busy life and become more interested in people than in things.”
