South African company Triggerfish Animation worked on the BBC one show ‘Revolting Rhymes’ and the show has been nominated for an Oscar. This news is great for all South African Animators.
Triggerfish Animation worked hard on the ‘Revolting Rhymes’ animated show for BBC one. The show is based on Roald Dahls famous book by the same name.
The poems were published in 1982. They were a parody of traditional folk tales. Roald Dahl gave a re-interpretation of six well-known fairy tales. Each one featuring surprise endings in place of the traditional happily-ever-after finishes.
Animators from Triggerfish worked on the project and were overjoyed when hearing it had received an Oscar nomination in the Animated Short Category.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Revolting Rhymes, the Directors, Magic Light Pictures and all the talented crew who worked on the film! Nominated in the Animated Short category in the 90th Academy Awards!” – Triggerfish Animation
This is a massive success, not only for the company but for South African Animators as a whole. It shows that South Africa has promising talent that can compete with bigger countries. It is always a good thing to be nominated. Now let’s all hold thumbs for a win.
