SAINTS Online Boutique is a charity shop that sells items to raise funds for various animal welfare; in 2024, the team raised R2,587,622 for animals.
South Africa (21 January 2025) – While the acronym means “Supporting Animals In Needy Times”, anyone who knows the organisation agrees that SAINTS is run and supported by people who save, shelter and sterilise animals out of a deep love for them and their ongoing wellbeing at all times.
SAINTS was founded in 2008 by Vivienne Elliott and her son Jordan. They started small and hosted a book sale to help well-known animal shelter FORA to purchase food for their many shelter animals. They were able to hand over R5,000 to FORA.
SAINTS was formalised as a non-profit company (NPC) in 2012 with two co-directors; the SAINTS journey grew from book sales to clothing, ornaments and oddment sales – and much more. In 2012, the SAINTS Charity Shop was opened at North Riding Square, Bellairs Drive, Northriding.
Today, they have raised R27,862,749, which is just WOW! In 2024, the sales from the online boutique, the auction page and the brick-and-mortar shop in Northriding came to a whopping R2,587,622.
The charity shop has ten regular beneficiaries who not only get a share of the monthly profits but also get bonuses when initiatives raise additional funds. These beneficiaries support animal welfare in South Africa, and the funds raised at the shop go a very long way in making life better for animals.
The SAINTS team added that, with the funds raised, they were able to fund 1,792 sterilisations in 2024.
