Thanda Choir brought their warmth to street corners in the City of Love.

Paris, France (01 October 2025) – A little piece of Khayelitsha found its way into the heart of Paris when the Thanda Choir, a youth group from Makhaza, took their voices to the City of Love for the very first time earlier this year.

Founded in 2023, the Thanda Choir was born out of a need to give township teens a creative escape and a safe space to grow. A place where music becomes a bridge to opportunity, leadership, and pride.

On their recent trip to Paris, the group brought Mzansi spirit, warmth and soul to the City of Love. In a way that only South African choirs know how. They performed at the La Défense Jazz Festival, featured live on TSF Jazz radio, and sang at the legendary L’Olympia theatre.

But perhaps their most moving performance didn’t come on a stage at all. Instead, it happened on a Parisian street corner. A clip that captures this moment was shared to Instagram, and has already racked up over 8.4 million views. For a good reason.
