The South African thriller ‘Bypass’ is about organ trafficking. The movie is based on true events and will be donating 10% of the profits to Organ Donation.
The Organ Donation Foundation has teamed up with the thriller ‘Bypass’ to raise awareness and funds for organ donation in South Africa.
“Bypass is the story of a cardiac surgeon, Dr. Lisa Cooper (Natalie Becker), who saves lives on her operating table every day, but is totally powerless to save the life of her only son Sam. With only 2% of the country on the organ donor list, Sam’s chances of getting a liver transplant are overwhelmingly stacked against him.”
“When the final hope of receiving a transplant is severed, Lisa faces the most difficult decision of her life; to wait for a donor organ that may never present itself or to bypass the institutionalized medical system. A decision that leads her right into the heart of conspiracy, danger and an international organ trafficking syndicate.”
Bypass is South Africa’s first medical thriller and has already lead to a 40% spike in people signing up as Organ Donors. The movie hits cinema’s on the 12th of May. For more information on how to become an organ donor check out the movies website here.
“Less than 2% of South Africa’s population are organ donors. By becoming an organ donor you can save up to 7 lives and help put an end to the illegal trade of organs. We are proud to partner with the Organ Donor Foundation of South Africa (ODF)”
