Tim Cocker reflects on his passion for South Africa, the natural beauty, and why his content continues to resonate so deeply with local fans.

Cape Town, South Africa (02 September 2025) – Tim Cocker, the popular rugby commentator behind the YouTube channel Eggchasers, recently returned to South Africa, and his latest trip offered far more than just rugby insights. It became a journey of discovery, connection, and appreciation for the country’s natural beauty and cultural warmth. This was not Tim’s first visit to South Africa. He first arrived in July 2024 to watch the Ireland versus Springboks matches, and the experience left a lasting impression. Returning this year, Tim embraced every moment, from iconic travel experiences to transformative community projects.

“This experience for South Africa…seeing people go to a game wearing the colours and coming together as a community, it’s not usual,” Tim said in one of his videos.

While locals might take it for granted, for him it was striking to witness the sense of unity and pride that surrounds rugby.

The journey also gave Tim a chance to soak in South Africa’s natural beauty. Sitting on a Cape Town beach, with Table Mountain and the ocean framing his view, he captured the tranquil harmony of the landscape. The sound of waves, seabirds, and the gentle breeze

For Tim, South Africa is more than a rugby destination, but a place of learning, inspiration, and breathtaking scenery. With a smile and gratitude in equal measure, he left the country with a renewed appreciation and a promise to return, eager for more rugby, more exploration, and more moments.
