‘Walk My Jozi’ participants will be shown prominent historic landmarks and the homes of the leading anti-apartheid activists as well as art and cultures from the brightest townships.

 

‘Walk My Jozi’ was launched as a way to get people to interact with parts of Johannesburg that they would never venture into alone. These areas are hubs of culture and arts, history and heritage. The food is also pretty fantastic.

The ‘Walk My Jozi’ initiative runs from the 19th to the 20th of May and takes place in a number of townships and neighbourhoods. The walks are usually hosted by an artist or organisation based within that area. Their knowledge base about the goings-on around them is vast.

The walks are an incredible way to access new artists, foods and learn a bit of history. The events are completely free but booking is still required for operational purposes. You can see the walks below and find the events listed here.
