When global superstar Kelis tells millions of fans to visit Cape Town, the world listens. And South Africans smile a little prouder.

Western Cape, South Africa (06 April 2025) – Kelis just posted a video calling Cape Town one of her top cities to visit in the world. And we couldn’t agree more!

Yes, that Kelis. The bold, brilliant, Grammy-nominated icon whose hits like “Milkshake”, “Bossy”, and “Trick Me” have been the soundtrack to nights out and singalongs for decades. She’s also a celebrated chef, a fashion trailblazer, and now, quite possibly, one of Cape Town’s biggest fans.

Recently in South Africa, Kelis has been lighting up her social media with pure admiration for the Mother City. And just when we thought we’d seen it all, she’s gone and done it again… posting another video to her 2.6 million Instagram followers (and nearly a million on Facebook) shouting out everything she adored about Cape Town and encouraging everyone to come visit.

From the top of Table Mountain to cheeky ostriches causing traffic jams, to sharing wood-fire “grilling” tips (which we all know is actually braai advice), Kelis has embraced the South African spirit in the most heartfelt way.

She’s not just soaking it in, she’s shining a light.

Over the past few weeks, Kelis has been travelling across Africa and documenting her journey online. From the savannahs of Kenya to Rwanda’s green hills and Zanzibar’s bustling markets. But it’s her Cape Town content that’s got locals smiling from ear to ear.

Why? Because when someone of her global influence takes the time to truly experience and uplift our corner of the world, it changes things. It reminds us just how magical it is to live here. It encourages others to explore, support local tourism, and appreciate what we often take for granted.

She’s showing her audience a South Africa full of beauty, vibrancy, culture, and joy.

So thank you, Kelis. Thank you for seeing us. For sharing the warmth, the laughter, the food and the views. And more than anything, thank you for reminding your millions of fans, and maybe even a few of us here at home, just how extraordinary Cape Town really is.

Come back soon. We’ve got a cold one and a proper braai waiting for you.
