Little Miracles Preschool in Bromhof once again rallied parents, teachers and families, collecting more than 1,200 canned food items to support vulnerable communities.

Johannesburg, South Africa (22 July 2026) – It took a few extra hands and plenty of heavy lifting, but every single can was worth it.

Charity Begins With Me founder Stephan Ferreira recently welcomed more than 1,200 canned food items, generously collected by Little Miracles Preschool in Bromhof as part of their Mandela Day drive. With boxes stacked high, colleagues even stepped in to help sort and pack the donations into food parcels.

Stephan joked that no one quite realised just how heavy 1,200 tins could be until it was time to move them all.

The preschool has become one of the organisation’s most loyal supporters, returning year after year to get behind whatever campaign is running. Whether it’s stationery, food or other essential supplies, the school community continues to show up in a big way.

Stephan thanked principal Alison, the teachers and parents for once again rallying behind the initiative, saying their generosity never goes unnoticed.

A special word of appreciation also went to Candice and Bryan, who helped coordinate the collection, encouraged friends and family to get involved and happily turned their home into a temporary storage space while the donations poured in.

The thousands of tins collected will now help stock food parcels for families supported by Charity Begins With Me.
