MySchool MyPlanet MyVillage encourages parents to swipe their cards when buying school uniform to help the organisation raise funds for 2020 pairs of school shoes.
Johannesburg, South Africa – Many school-going children in South Africa have to go to school without school shoes due to lack of funds. These children often walk barefoot in order to get to or from school – a task that can prove really challenging in the height of summer or the depths of winter. This is why MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet aims to donate 2020 pairs of leather school shoes to those who need it the most.
“We’ve been working with many schools in underprivileged areas over the years and we’ve witnessed first-hand that many children don’t have adequate – or any – shoes,” says Trish Kowo, Senior Marketing Manager for MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet.
“It’s not only uncomfortable during the day for these children, but also when they have to make their way to and from school as many of them walk. We believe that every child has a right to quality education and this is why we’ve embarked on this initiative to give 2020 pairs of leather school shoes to children who need it the most.”
Every time a MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet supporter swipes their card when purchasing schoolwear at Woolworths, during this back-to-school season, an additional donation will be made towards the funds needed for the 2020 pairs of shoes until 31 January 2020.
“Through this initiative, we want to ensure that children are equipped to start their school year off on a strong note, with the right tools and ready to learn,” concludes Kowo.
