Through the joy of dance and the generosity of Dancers Love Dogs, countless beloved pets in Lavender Hill will now have the chance to live healthier, happier lives.
Cape Town, South Africa (11 October 2026) – When dancing on stage makes countless deserving paws very happy!
Dancers Love Dogs SA is committed to supporting animals in need of sterilisation. By producing stunning stage shows, the organisation raises funds to help reduce the number of unwanted animals, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
Paws-A-While has recently benefited from this wonderful initiative. Thanks to freelance dancer and Dancers Love Dogs founder Brigitte Reeve Taylor, the animal welfare charity’s mission to make a real difference in communities where the need is greatest has received a heartwarming boost.
“Brigitte not only joined us as a judge for our Rescue Dog Show at World Animal Day, but Dancers Love Dogs have gone above and beyond by donating an incredible R20,000 towards our ongoing sterilisation drive in Lavender Hill,” shared Paws-A-While founder and director Carolyn Dudgeon.
The ongoing sterilisation drive continues to make a meaningful difference in the neighbourhood. Earlier this year, we shared how a two-day campaign successfully sterilised 109 animals, addressing one of the main drivers of animal overpopulation, neglect and pressure on welfare resources.
Since February 2025, the collaborating organisations – Paws-a-While, Aid 4 Animals in Distressand theCape of Good Hope SPCA – have collectively sterilised hundreds of animals in Lavender Hill, bringing most community-owned pets into the programme.
This contribution from Dancers Love Dogs will help the charity sterilise even more animals, preventing unwanted litters and helping to break the cycle of pet overpopulation in communities where resources are limited.
“It’s an incredible way to enjoy an evening of beautiful dance while helping change the lives of animals who need us most. Thank you, Brigitte and Dancers Love Dogs, for standing with us. We are so incredibly grateful,” Carolyn said.
You can support the cause even further by booking tickets for the Dancers Love Dogs gala on 3 November at the Artscape Opera House. Proceeds from each ticket will go towards one sterilisation.
