The Grace Factory is hosting a baby clothing drive to ensure they have enough to gift to new moms in state hospitals this coming winter.
South Africa (20 May 2022) – Imagine being a new mom in the grips of winter at a state hospital, and someone places a beautiful bag filled with baby clothes, blankets and essentials on your bed. You may have some baby items, or you may have none, but after the generosity of others, you breathe a sigh of relief, knowing when you take your tiny baby home, they will be dressed warm and wrapped in a soft, cosy blanket.
That is why the Grace Factory does what it does, to give struggling new moms hope! Preparations for its Mandela Day project are well underway, and the team is busy packing 1000 bags filled with baby essentials for new moms in government hospitals.
The Grace Factory, an NPO that gives practical assistance to moms and babies in need during the first few weeks of motherhood and infancy, stresses the importance of doing so. The organisation packs the items into gift sets and delivers them to new moms in government hospitals all over South Africa. The packs consist of basic necessities such as clothes, blankets, toiletries, nappies and a few things for mom.
The organisation is doing a big drive for baby clothing. They hope to give a few outfits in each pack that will keep babies warm for the first few months of their lives.
Mandela Day is on the 18th of July, which is in the middle of winter in South Africa. If you have gently worn baby clothing to donate or want to donate new clothing, you can reach out to the Grace Factory below.
People are welcome to send donations, and some women even crochet beanies, booties, blankets and other adorable premature baby items. Not only does the organisation welcome donors, but they also welcome volunteers to help pack the packs and hand them out at the hospitals.
