The Edenglen Cycling Club’s Paint the Cradle Pink Ride 2026 is bringing cyclists and supporters together to honour loved ones affected by cancer, raise funds for CANSA, and show the powerful impact everyday people can make when riding as one.

Johannesburg, South Africa (28 August 2026) – For three years now, the Edenglen Cycling Club, corporate sponsors and the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) have brought the community together for the Paint the Cradle Pink Ride – a day dedicated to raising cancer awareness, honouring loved ones affected by the disease, and riding with purpose.

The 2025 event, held on 6 October, was a true reflection of fraternity, unity, and generosity. With over 250 enthusiastic participants, riders and supporters proudly raised more than R200,000 for CANSA, underscoring the profound difference everyday people can make when they come together for a cause.

“We are honoured to announce the fourth annual Pink Cradle Ride, a cherished event in our cycling community that continues to grow in both spirit and purpose,” said Ozzie Ferreira.

This year’s ride is especially poignant as the Club has sadly lost another founding member and true stalwart, Vimelin, to cancer.

“It is at times like these that we see the true value of the CANSA Association, who do all the support work for patients and families without government funding.”

This was coupled with the passing of the Club’s patron Vanessa, whose unwavering commitment and warmth were the heartbeat of the initiative.

“Hers and Vim’s legacy now guides us forward, and the 2026 Pink Cradle Ride will be held in their memory, celebrating the values they embodied: compassion, resilience, and solidarity, as well as a zest for life.”

Vim, Vanessa and all cycling family members are the reason the Edenglen Cycling Club do this. As always, participation remains free, and all participants are asked to show up in pink to stand united in support of cancer awareness.

“Let’s do this together,” Ozzie encouraged.

“Let’s ride together with a target of 300+ cyclists all dressed in pink, and let’s raise R300,000 for the CANSA association.”

Save the Date

The Pink Cradle Ride will take place on 11 October at Syringa Park at Avianto Estate.
