Zach McDonald is a remarkable young boy who has captured the nation’s heart with his selfless dedication to helping others.
Cape Town (08 August 2024) – At the tender age of 10, giving back with a generous heart is something that comes naturally to Zach McDonald.
The young chap from Diep River tugged at many South Africans’ hearts when news broke of how he went out of his way to collect funds and save his own pocket money to buy much-needed baby essentials for La Culla Safe Haven for Babies in Cape Town, for Mandela Day.
Zach dedicated to saving every cent he could, from birthday gifts to loose change, with a single-minded purpose: to support those less fortunate. Whether it’s providing for the homeless, feeding the hungry, or caring for vulnerable infants, his generosity knows no bounds.

Good Things Guy got in touch with Zach’s mother Tanielle who said her son has used his Facebook group Zach Gives Back as well as word of mouth to share what his “next giftings” would be and those that who would like to help, could do so.
“Zach has done many kind, great and inspiring things. He was born with the purest and most beautiful heart, from a very young age his love for helping others shone through when he got older.”
Zach’s family, friends and community have rallied behind his charitable efforts by lending a helping hand wherever possible and sharing about his initiatives.
Zach’s unwavering compassion is an inspiring testament to the power of kindness, proving that even the smallest acts can make the biggest difference.
Beyond proud of her young philanthropist, Tanielle said that Zach’s compassion is something she wished more kids and adults would have.
“Zach has shown that kindness costs nothing and no kind gesture is based on how much you give but more about the heart you give with. I hope that he inspires many more people along the way,” shared the proud mom.
