After losing his father to cancer, Dale decided it was time to take action. Setting out to raise funds for cancer care and awareness, he committed to 100 Lion’s Head Runs in 100 Days to make a difference for those facing the Big C:

Cape Town, South Africa (22 April 2024) — Nothing ever prepares us for the loss of a loved one. Even when they’ve been sick. Even if we knew the odds may not have been in their favour. A feeling of great helplessness can set in and, understandably, take its toll. Until, for some, the realisation strikes that they might be able to do something for someone else—someone still fighting to overcome their odds. For Dale Leisegang, this kind of something looked like tackling a mountain—100 times. And, we’re inspired to report that his 100 Lion’s Head Runs in 100 Days mission has proved a big success.

For context, Dale lost his father six months ago to cancer. Determined to give as many people as possible a fighting chance in their own cancer battles, Dale decided that he would do something mountainous.

With over four and a half Comrade Marathon distances of running and walking ahead of him (not to mention, over 40 kms of elevation to climb) Dale embarked on the 100 Lion’s Head Runs in 100 Days almost 100 days ago.

His latest update saw him check in on day 95 and 96, meaning he is nail-bitingly close to having conquered the ambitious task, with plans to complete it on 24 April (Wednesday).

In fantastic news, the mission has already proved a success; having surpassed Dale’s initial fundraising goal of R100 000. The current funds raised are sitting at R110 645!

Dale needs all the support he can get to get through the final push; and his journey can be kept up with via his Instagram @daleleisegang.
