Three-year-old Michael has officially became part of the Brown family on Tuesday and his response has touched everyone’s hearts.
On Tuesday 20 December, Michael was formally adopted by the Brown family, and posed for a photo which says far more than words ever could convey.
Beaming from ear to ear and punching the air, Michael posed for several photos following the court hearing.
The youngster had spent 832 days in foster care, having been looked after by the Browns, from Phoenix, Arizona, since February 2015.
Tara Montgomery did not initially set out to adopt, but 3-year-old Michael changed her plans.
Tara was Michael’s third foster family. He was 18 months old at the time. When the original plan for him to reunite with his biological mom fell through, her rights were severed, which meant Montgomery could adopt him.
“As a single parent, I was not looking to adopt, just to help kids during transition,” she said. “But that changed with Michael. It felt like he was a part of our family right from the start.”
Of Michael’s transformation, Dezhianna told Buzzfeed , “Now when he sleeps with me, he’ll roll over in the morning and get super close to my face and say, ‘Dae, I so happy.’
“His last name was already Brown so we knew it was meant to be.”
Given Michael’s young age, the significance of hearing has gone over his head a little.
“I don’t think he truly understood what being adopted meant,” Dezhianna added. “He just knew he was being adopted.”
Montgomery’s daughters tweeted photos from Michael’s adoption day on Tuesday. The photos have more than 140,000 likes.

Montgomery says she is grateful that her son’s photos are bringing awareness to adoption.
“If this can inspire just one person to make a difference in the life of a child, we are happy.”
