Following the success of a one-of-a-kind tea party for underprivileged grannies, Charity Begins With Me is organising a township spa day! They are looking for beauty products to make the day fabulous:

Johannesburg, South Africa (02 June 2025) — Recently, township grannies were treated to a tea party like no other. Now, Charity Begins With Me is preparing for another big event, a township spa day.

Beyond scores of gogos getting to laugh and sing over platters of cakes, muffins and brownies (not to mention the many, many cups of tea that were served), what made the tea party thrown just for them quite so special was that it was made possible almost entirely by strangers who had the kindness to spare.

Charity Begins With Me’s supporters came through in a big way for grandmothers they’d never met by sending treats of all shapes, sizes and flavours. It was a testament to the power of sharing and to the fact that not all charitable efforts need to be life-changing. Sometimes, day-making is enough.

The charity is hoping that the same community spirit will help make for a marvellous township spa day.

At present, the ask is for beauty products (nail polishes, lotions, make-up, jewellery, little soaps, etc).

Because who doesn’t want to enjoy a spa day, especially if you have never enjoyed one before?

Those interested in making the event possible are encouraged to reach out to Stephan Ferreira here. Drop-offs can be done in Fairland (Johannesburg) or through PUDO.
