Oscar the security guard at an ABSA ATM has become the hero of the long weekend all thanks to his incredible honesty and willingness to uphold a better South Africa.
Tolla Oosthuizen went to the draw cash from the ATM on the 30th of March 2018. He withdrew R2000.00 from his account and left to carry on with his day. However, Tolla had made a fatal error… He had forgotten to take the cash from the ATM and had left without it.
Many would agree that with an incident like this, the chances of that money still being there were very slim. Thankfully for Tolla, a guardian angel was on duty that day.
Meet Oscar, the ABSA ATM security guard who saved Tolla’s day. Oscar saw that the money had been forgotten, so he pocketed it but not for himself, to keep it safe so the rightful owner could come back and claim it.
“This guy Oscar is on duty as a guard at Absa Bank Bluff branch today He works for Fidelity I want to commend him I went to the bank this morning just after 8 and drew R 2000 and left just with my card and money still in the machine on my arrival at home two hours later I Realized I left my money in the machine.”
“I ran back to the bank and upon my arrival there I spoke to the guard He asked me which machine I used I showed him and he took the money out of his pocket to my amazement Sjoe, what an honorable man I salute you for the man you are may God bless you abundantly for your honesty and integrity”
Tolla was completely blown away by Oscar and filmed him to share the story with the rest of South Africa. Hope is never lost and there are incredible South Africans to meet every single day.
