Connie Chiume and John Kani visited the 94.7fm radio station for the release of the ‘Black Panther’ movie and challenged the breakfast team to help get underprivileged kids tickets to go watch too.
Black Panther has been making headlines across the globe. The movie is being called the greatest Super-hero movie of all time and it has already made history in so many ways. One of the cast members started raising funds to help get kids from poor communities in America to the cinema to watch the historic movie.
This inspired local actors Connie Chiume and John Kani, both of whom featured in the Black Panther movie, to challenge the local Johannesburg radio station (94.7) to do the same. Anele and the rest of the 94.7 team accepted the challenge and donated R5000.00 of their own money to the challenge.
As of this morning, the team has raised over R1-million which means that 8000 children will be able to watch the movie.
‘On Thursday, the 947 Breakfast team raised a total of R1,039,800 to take over 8,000 young South Africans from underprivileged backgrounds to watch the first black superhero film, Black Panther.”
Each child will receive a movie ticket, popcorn, cooldrink and a doughnut, not to mention a life-changing experience of being able to watch one of the most important super-hero movies to date.
The team raised over R300,000.00 and three massive cinemas pledged to double the seats making that a total of R1-Million in tickets and snacks.
There are NO WORDS! R346,600 x 3 = R1,039,800 RAISED! Over 8,000 young South African's will now be able to watch #BlackPanther @theblackpanther! Unbelievable work @947BClub! This is the power of what we can do when we all come together! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON!
