The BSR Foundation does incredible work to support special needs children by offering specialised treatment.
Cape Town, South Africa (23 July 2024) – The Body Stress Release (BSR) Foundation is making a difference to children from underprivilidged backgrounds and with special needs. They are providing care to these children, relieving stress and giving them ease of movement.
South African couple Ewald and Gail Meggersee pioneered a treatment protocol in the 1980s called Body Stress Release. This complementary technique aims to help individuals overcome the burdens of body stress by restoring balance, offering relief and unlocking the body’s innate healing potential. The aim is to:
“To improve mobility, ease discomfort and pain thereby improving the quality of life. This is achieved by releasing stored tension caused by physical and emotional stresses. BSR is made available to institutions and schools for the disabled or disadvantaged.”
The Foundation does monthly outreaches in Cape Town, working with the Home of Hope, Heartlands Baby Sanctuary, Jo-Dolphin Care Swartland, Sherwood Park Special Care Centre, and twice a year, they visit the Khwezi Lokusa Special Needs School in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. Twice a year, they also venture out to Zambia, to help the children in need as well as mentor practitioners in the country. You can read more about their outreaches here.
The Foundation not only provides treatment, but also empowers people through its bursary programme, which provides training to hopeful practitioners. If you would like to support the work the work they do, you can find out more here.
