We love celebrating roadside heroes who are always willing to put in the effort to help fellow South Africans change a tyre; these three guys did just that.
Richards Bay, South Africa (16 March 2023) – Finding yourself on the side of a busy South African road with a flat tyre can be a little hair-raising but that’s not to say there are not absolute heroes out there who would go above and beyond to help. People are inherently good at heart and always willing to help wherever possible. We see this every day and love to celebrate these small good deeds.
Catherine Burmester was travelling along the N2 near Richards Bay when her trailer tyre gave up and shredded. She pulled over and started assessing the damage. Naturally, she felt a little anxious about having to stop but with little else as an option, she started working towards changing the tyre.
Before long, a car pulled up and the three men inside offered to help her make a quick job of the change. With the extra hands to help, Catherine was safely back on the road before she could even truly process the kindness she received.
“These amazing guys pulled over on the N2 near Richards Bay to help me change a buggered trailer tire. They changed the tire with beautiful smiles and a sense of humour which definitely eased my anxiety. I feel incredibly lucky and blessed to have met them even though it was brief…” – Catherine Burmester
She shared the post on Facebook to show there is still, love, kindness and Ubuntu in South Africa. She thanked the guys for the help and felt honoured to be the recipient of this kind act.
The simple act of changing a flat tyre always warms the hearts of South Africans, because it can feel like such an overwhelming task when done alone.
Well done to these three heroes! We may not know your names, but we honour your good deed.
