Addison is a business-savvy 6-year-old with a passion for bright colours, bath bombs and of course, dogs. So she started a business to raise funds for FORA
Megan Hunter, an inspirational South African who shared her own story with us last year, got on in contact to tell us about Addison. Addison is a 6-year-old with a thriving little business all built up to help raise funds for ‘Friends of Rescued Animals’ (FORA).
Addison is your typical 6-year-old, she loves bright colours, dogs and bath bombs. So together with her parents, she started making brightly coloured bath bombs to raise money for FORA.
“Both my doggies come from FORA and I want to help more doggies and kitties that don’t have a real home yet. Every animal should have their own kid to play with.” – Addison Brown
Addison’s mom confirmed that the business was 100% Addison’s idea. They had started the little project as a way to spend extra fun time together.
“Addison and I started making bath bombs for fun and for her own enjoyment. She, of her own accord, asked if she could start selling them and I took it as a great opportunity to teach her about business and responsibility. I love her enthusiasm for her little business but I want her to understand the value of money and the hard work that it takes to make, all whilst having fun at the same time.”
“I show her how to save, budget and most importantly to give back, and I love the fact that she chose FORA as her beneficiary. It is awe inspiring watching a little 6 year old, being her own boss and building a little empire for herself. As parents, we can only hope we have instilled good morals and beneficial life lessons along the way, but for now, our hearts are bursting with pride…”
Pictured below, Addison is holding up the money she made for FORA at her very first Market Day. The joy she has for being able to hand over R200 to the charity is evident in her happy little face. You can find out more about FORA here and if Addison has inspired you, pop her a thank you here.
