Instead of receiving birthday gifts for her birthday, Catherine arrived at the Animal Anti-Cruelty League in Durban with arms overflowing with pet food to celebrate her special day with the needs of doggos and kitties in mind.

Durban, South Africa (14 April 2025) – Birthdays are a big deal, each a celebration of life cherished for deeply personal reasons. But when a birthday becomes a platform to spotlight something truly extraordinary and becomes more than just about the individual, our hearts feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

The hearts of the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) in Durban were filled with gratitude thanks to one incredible woman who chose to celebrate her birthday in the most selfless way!

Catherine showcased a touching display of thoughtfulness and care for animals in need after choosing to use her birthday as a reason to encourage her family and friends to buy dog and cat food.

Instead of receiving gifts, Catherine’s pet food drive helped give back to AACL’s Durban and Pietermaritzburg branches and arrived with her arms full of donations for the animals.

More than just a food donation, Catherine’s ability to move the significance of her day away from herself but rather to that of the needs of precious furbabies who have experienced an unkind side to life, is a sweet display of compassion.

“It is moments like this that remind us how much love and generosity there is in the world. Acts of kindness like Catherine’s make a real difference in the lives of the animals in our care, and we are so deeply grateful,” AACL emotionally shared.

“From all of us at AACL – Durban & PMB Branch, thank you, Catherine, for choosing to celebrate your special day by giving back. We hope that your birthday was as beautiful as your heart.”

Catherine’s birthday served as a heartwarming reminder of the goodness in the world, and we hope it was one of her best ones yet!
