Together Against Covid has been working to get classical music into the hallways and walkways of hospitals to help patients heal and recover.

Cape Town, South Africa (27 August 2021) – Dr Bryony May launched the organisation Together Against Covid to help provide aid to communities in need. One of the latest initiatives launched by Dr May is to have classical music playing in the hallways of hospitals.

The soothing classical music is played by incredibly talented. The aim is to show appreciation to the hospital staff who are being most affected by the stress that comes along with the pandemic and the high occupancy currently being experienced by most hospitals.

“Music says so much without words… we will let music spread the message of thanks and encouragement to healthcare workers at other hospitals over the next weeks ahead so that we come out of this third wave, not in stunned silence, but in a rhythm of hope.”

The staff are always so surprised when the music starts playing. They come out to see what is happening. Dr May shares that they laugh, cry, and even start dancing when they realise that the music is there for them.

“Healthcare workers are accustomed to highs and lows… to the rhythm of life and death… Constantly there for us no matter how small or intense our emergency

Healthcare workers, wherever you are, know you are cherished, your care and expertise is valued and you are OUR HEROES!”
