The Secret Love Project and Heart of Cape Town are joining forces to turn Mandela Day into 67 days of changing lives, challenging people to get creative by beautifying their bins!
Cape Town, South Africa (29 July 2024) – The Uthando Heart of Cape Town’s ‘Beautify your Bin‘ challenge for Mandela Day has been a beautiful addition to supporting the homeless community. The project is bringing organisations together in the support of homeless people. ‘The Secret Love Project’, which sees heart stickers sold by people in need of a hand up, earning an income of their own, has become a big part of the challenge.
The Heart of Cape Town has turned 67 minutes into 67 days! The goal is to purchase the Secret Love Project sticker packs over that time and use them to decorate your refuse bin. Then, on September 22nd, 2024, all participants are encouraged to place their decorated bins outside their homes across Cape Town.
“Why limit doing good to 67 minutes on just one day? Welcome to the “67 Days for Mandela” Challenge!
As part of the Heart of Cape Town initiative, we are celebrating Nelson Mandela’s legacy through a 67-day event dedicated to unity, peace, and love: 67 Days for Mandela: Bin Decorating Challenge”
So, how do you join?
- Step 1: Buy a heart sticker pack from any of The Secret Love Project vendors, or use your creativity by making your own! Use markers, paint, or whatever inspires you to share your love with heartfelt designs
- Step 2: Decorate your refuse bin using the multi-coloured hearts.
- Step 3: Post your beautifully decorated bin photos on social media and tag @heartofcapetowncpt and @secretloveproject to inspire and bring joy to your community and spread the message of Love while
supporting local vendors - Step 4: Follow @heartofcapetowncpt and @secretloveproject to be inspired.
Below are two stunning examples of bins being decorated with heart stickers. The challenge will beautify bins and uplift people while raising awareness for two incredible projects – that is, a lot of wins! So get ready, get creative and go change some lives!
