A community have come together to help someone who openly took to social media to ask for help with their depression.

This is what a community is about!

Modiehi Poppy Moloi posted her plea to her community Facebook group to ask them to just talk to her, and the response was incredible! Modiehi was feeling a little low and decided to turn to her community for help.

“Can I humbly get someone to talk to? Someone who is not judgemental please… I’m so depressed.”

The community who saw the post immediately came together to offer their assistance. Some gave advise while most gave out their numbers to help her.

Zan Koenig posted: “Modiehi, darling it’s Zan I’m giving you my cell 082 xxx xxxx. You can call any time day or night, I work from home, and I work till late late at night.”

Elaine de Villiers added: “My number is 076 xxx xxxx! Please call or send a please call me.”

Kelly-Ann Van Der Meer posted: “Hi. Please message me I would love to listen and encourage. Sounds like you need a friend. Xxx”

Sharon Roets said: “I make a pretty good cuppa coffee. I have a good ear to listen. And broad shoulders to cry on. Message me anytime… love to have a chat!”

Adele Mackenzie commented: “Hope you are feeling stronger and more positive. Agree, very brave to reach out and I am proud of everyone who showed you love and light. People continue to surprise me with their kindness and compassion. I am dealing with a very sick mother right now and am staying in her home which is closer to the hospital she is in. But if you ever feel helpless and hopeless again, message me and we will go for coffee. Stay strong and brave!”

Simone Goosen added: “I think this response is truly amazing! I hope other people who are in desperate need to speak to someone can see that there is always someone listening and not to far away to help! Makes me super happy to see we still have amazing people out there like you guys!”

Shayne Proctor said: “Modiehi despite being total strangers, I’m so proud of you for being able to reach out and ask . Remember, it’s ok to not be okay! The amount of compassion on this thread is truly amazing.”

Modiehi jotted down the numbers and list of community members to message and thanked everyone for their outpouring of love.

“Thank you everyone…the response is overwhelming! Will message 2 or 3 ladies tomorrow coz I’m thinking its late and people need to rest for work. Seeing so many people caring makes me feel better already.”
