Friends, family and community have rallied and dug deep to support one of their own, Warren Olivier. Together, they have and continue to raise funds to support the recovery of a father and husband who has done so much for so many as he recovers from two major heart attacks in three months.
Johannesburg, South Africa (02 October 2025) – During one of the most difficult seasons of his life, Warren Olivier has found solace and support from his friends, family, and community, who have come together to be a shining beacon of hope for him.
In just 10 days, they have rallied and managed to raise R36,400 to support his recovery after two major heart attacks in three months.
On 18 June, Warren Olivier suffered a major heart attack. He was rushed to Helen Joseph Hospital, but due to a lack of resources, he was forced to wait for over two hours while actively having a heart attack in the waiting room.
“Despite the delay, the staff were eventually able to stabilise him with medication to dissolve blood clots and morphine to manage the pain. Warren was transferred to Johannesburg General Hospital, where doctors performed an angiogram and inserted a stent to save his life. On June 22nd, Warren was sent home to recover,” shares close friend, Jonathan Duley.
However, on 18 September, just three months later, Warren suffered yet another heart attack.
The devoted father and husband is currently stable in the hospital, but he now needs additional angiograms, further treatment, and a long road of rehabilitation ahead.
“Warren had given up his own medical aid so that his wife and children could stay covered during a financially unstable period between jobs. This selfless act has left him without coverage for his own care, meaning his recovery, ongoing treatments, and rehabilitation will be incredibly expensive,” Jonathan adds.
Though his workplace has been supportive during this difficult period, his friends and family have been rallying tirelessly to raise that little extra for him to take the extra financial stress off his shoulders for his rehab and recovery.
They have together dug deep and donated to a recently launched BackaBuddy page to make this possible.
“Warren is a proud Christian man with a huge heart. He is the type of person who always puts others before himself; his family, his friends, and even people he barely knows. His love, friendship, and generosity have touched so many lives. Now, it’s our turn to be there for him.”
This campaign is about easing the burden and giving a man who’s always cared for others the chance to heal, rebuild, and return to the life and loved ones who need him.
