The CSI Legacy Awards shed light on the initiatives making a big difference in South Africa. Importantly, they extended the spotlight to make sure that NGOs were included!
Menlyn, South Africa (07 March 2024 — The CSI Legacy Awards shone a spotlight on South Africans across the country for whom ‘a day in the office’ is synonymous with making a difference for our country’s future.
There is no recipe as to what makes a successful NGO, Social Entrepreneur or initiative. But from the many incredible stories we’ve had the privilege of telling, we know that kind intentions, consistency and showing up for people and communities who are most overlooked is a sure way to start.
Corporate Social Responsibility is something of a sticky term for Good Things Guy, considering that many companies do a lot less for their communities than they are capable of. The difference between really impactful CSI and something that’s simply policy is heart and culture. And when a culture of giving back is part of any business or entrepreneur’s vision, it can mean multiple lifelines for so many of our country’s most underserved.
Recognition is not common in the world of giving back, and awards for NGOs in particular, are far and few between. The recent CSI Legacy Awards honoured many NGOs through nominations and wins, and it’s this spotlight we’d like to brighten:
- Best NGO per the Awards went to St. Joseph’s Intermediate Paediatric Care
- Best Rising NGO was presented to Empowervate
- Best NGO Working with Disability was awarded to Socio Skills Foundation
Honourable mentions go to Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer who were a finalist for Rising NGO, Missionvale Care Centre and Hlanganisa Community Fund who were also nominated as the Best NGO working with Disability and all the nominees in these categories for the often thankless work they do.
