Steven worked as a gardener one day a week; his boss, Eugene, saw his commitment and invested in his dreams of a brighter future.

South Africa (05 July 2024) – Steven has been working as a gardener for Eugene Nagel for the past three years. The job was a part-time one, with Steven working one day a week. Eugene shared the inspiring story of how Steven has worked his way up from Gardener to Production Assistant at his company. This moment was made sweeter by Steven accomplishing a massive financial goal, paying off his new Scooter.

“Meet Steven, he’s been working for us for about 3 years for 1 day a week as our gardener. Being so impressed with him as he is always pro-active, consistant en super proud of his work, I knew if I had an opportunity for him at ChilliPix , he would definitely be an asset for the business.”

The video and photography company is a popular one and its growth has been on the rise. This presented an opportunity for Steven to grow in his career. When a position for a Production Assistant opened up, Eugene offered the job to Steven. He gladly accepted, jumping from the garden into the production realm, helping bring the smallest touches to the company’s shoot days.

Adding to Eugene’s post, he shared that he had planned to get rid of his scooter a year ago and when Steven heard, he asked if he could purchase it on a payment plan. A plan was agreed on and now, Steven is able to get about town with speed and using very little of his energy. That is huge considering he had to cycle 16km a day on his bicycle.

“So a year ago he said he wanted to buy my scooter as he was cycling 16km to my house and all over to his other clients. So he started paying it off from June 2023… fast forward to 2024, we where blessed with work and we where able to employ him full time and upgrade Steven from a Gardener to a Production Assistant and Junior Applicator after his extensive training. He is now earning more and has a stable job. At the end of May, Steven finally paid off his scooter and is now the proud owner of a Big Boy Scooter. So so proud of this guy!!

…So what is your excuse in life for not succeeding? Anything is possible trough hard work, dedication and Sacrifice!”

The post has generated many comments of congratulations and safe travels, and we wholeheartedly agree. Well done on your success, Steven! May your career grow and bloom just as the many gardens you tended to over the years.
