Children and their beloved dogs are set to be treated this festive season; Funda Nenja is collecting goodies for 100 children and dogs to fill their hampers.
Mpophomeni, South Africa (29 October 2021) – It is the time of year where charities start launching their festive initiatives to make sure the festive season is filled with joy. Funda Nenja launched their annual hamper drive and hope to support 100 children and dogs.
Funda Nenja, a dog training initiative, run in the township of Mpophomeni, near Howick, in the KZN Midlands of South Africa. They focus on animal welfare in the area by providing dog training lessons to the children.
These lessons teach the dogs some skills and help the children bond with their pets to form a deeper connection. The classes help educate children in animal welfare and encourage them to show their families how to treat animals.
The classes are hosted each week, and as part of the programme, the dogs involved get checked up by the primary veterinary clinic. Any animals not inoculated yet, get it done right there.
“With Christmas just around the corner, we are starting to put together our Christmas hampers for the children and their dogs. Please help us with donations towards the contents of these hampers. We are hoping to be able to give out 100 of them.
These hampers are for both the children and their dogs as we feel it is very important to reward the children for taking care of their dogs and in this way, ensure that they will return next year to continue learning about how to take care of their furry friends.”
