Against tough terrains and gruelling kilometres, Gaelyn and Gill proved that limits are meant to be shattered by powering through four massive 160km ultramarathons in just one year.
George, South Africa (08 January 2026) – For Gaelyn Slabber-Postma and Gillian Lupton-Smith, 2025 was the year they dared to face a challenge that scared them, but they were determined to do it anyway.
Good Things Guy has followed their journey as they pushed themselves and persevered through the mission to complete four 160km ultramarathons in a single year! And they did it!
On 21 December, Gaelyn and Gill completed the Longmore Forest (LoFER) 100-mile ultramarathon – the final ultramarathon on their list- in an incredible 39:05:10.
Their achievement came just weeks after Gaelyn had already run 100km at the RMB Ultra-Trail Cape Town in late October, taking on extreme winds and heat in a solo effort.
Reeling from the exhilarating rush of the LoFER, Gaelyn said that though she experienced all four seasons and a few hallucinations of crashing meteors in one day, the event did not disappoint.
The final adventure was more than just another challenge to tick off the bucket list for these two thrill seekers; it was for a deeply personal cause to uplift other women striving to build better lives for themselves through Wild Mongoo, a charity that strives to empower vulnerable women through skills training
“A crazy, crazy idea we thought up last year on our MUT 100km race. To run for a cause. To run for her. To run for all women. This challenge was tough, but we were tougher. But that is just how we are facing challenges head-on, lifting each other up along the way,” Gaelyn said.
“Thank you to everyone for all the love and support. We appreciate you all so very much. Thank you for supporting us and for supporting Wild Mongoo.”
These aren’t professional athletes backed by big brands, just two women who pushed their limits, showed up for themselves and for others. Together, they successfully completed Addo (160km), MUT by UTMB, Cederberg Traverse, and the LoFER 100-Miler.
As they rest and recharge following a year they describe as one that “knackered them”, Gaelyn and Gill hope that their journey will serve as proof that discipline, resilience, and consistency over an entire year is possible.
For turning a personal challenge into collective impact and inspiring us every step of the way, we applaud and celebrate this incredible duo!
