As a dedicated student, few things compare to having your teachers truly believe in your potential. Njabulo’s teachers were moved by her work ethic despite hardships at home and mobilised a fundraiser to help, paving the way for an outpouring of support from those who were determined to see her sit in her upcoming final exams.

Hammanskraal, South Africa (16 September 2025) – Njabulo Muthanti, a bright and hardworking matriculant at Prestige College in Hammanskraal, has experienced a final school year not only marked by academic challenges but also financial hurdles that have threatened to derail her dreams.

When her mother lost her job, the family struggled to cover the R41,000 registration fee required for Njabulo to sit her Cambridge matric finals, a barrier that could have stopped her from completing her education and pursuing university next year.

Circumstances were, understandably, very difficult at home. However, a strong-willed Njabulo remained focused on her studies and committed to building a better future for herself and her family.

It’s this will, determination and tireless work ethic that was easily recognised by her teachers Helé and Liaan Lategan, who mobilised a fundraiser to help. With the registration deadline of 13 September fast approaching, additional support was urgently needed.

“As her teachers at Prestige College Hammanskraal, we can personally attest to her commitment and character,” say Helé and Liaan Lategan.

“She has shown remarkable resilience and continues to work tirelessly toward her goals. We believe she deserves the chance to prove herself at this crucial stage of her education, and with support, her future can be transformed.”

Hearing Njabulo’s inspiring story, Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels did what they do best – they stepped in to assist!

The Angels donated a generous R50,000, covering the R41,000 needed for her final exam registration and providing additional support for school-related expenses during this critical period.

“Education is one of the most powerful tools a young person can have to change their life,” says Martin Bester, host of Jacaranda FM’s flagship breakfast show ‘Breakfast With Martin Bester’.

“Good Morning Angels is proud to assist a hardworking and dedicated young woman like Njabulo. It would be a tragedy to see her dreams slip away due to financial barriers beyond her control. We are happy to help provide the funds she needs to write her final matric exams and continue on her path to success. Her dedication, resilience, and determination to succeed are truly inspiring, and we are honoured to play a role in helping her achieve her dreams.”

Njabulo is due to write her AS examinations at the end of September. Without this support, she would have been unable to register, losing the opportunity to obtain her matric qualification and pursue university studies next year.

This resilient matriculant’s story is a reminder of the challenges many students face when financial barriers threaten to derail their education. With the support of her teachers, friends, and organisations like Good Morning Angels, Njabulo can continue her studies and take a decisive step toward a brighter future!
