As rocky as South Africa’s roads may sometimes be, they’re also paved with kindness!
Johannesburg, South Africa (15 January 2026) – Two ladies – Theresa and her aunt, Caroline – were on the way back to Johannesburg after spending a few days in the Kruger National Park, early in January.
They’d just exited the park and were headed toward White River when their car suddenly overheated. They stopped to put in water, but shortly after setting off again, the car overheated once more.
“Mom pulled over, shaken and worried about what to do next,” shares Debbie, Theresa’s daughter who reached out to us to share the story.
Thankfully, kindness already had the engine running.
Not long after pulling over, a G4S security vehicle stopped. Two men climbed out. Solly Ndhlovu and his partner Blessing Ndlovu. They noticed the ladies stranded on the side of the road. Their first instinct was to help.
“Solly called a tow truck and stayed with my mom, who was beside herself. He went above and beyond, even calling her later that day to check that they were safe.” adds Debbie.
After a long day and an even longer evening of travelling back to Johannesburg after renting a backup car, they finally made it back home safely, still bowled over by the kindness of strangers who decided to stop and help.
Theresa later shared a message of gratitude with Solly’s boss, letting him know about the small but genuinely helpful thing his employee had done. We wanted to share this part with you:
“This act of kindness shows that there are still people out there who are prepared to assist when necessary.”
It’s true. South Africa is full of Sollys. People who know that even the smallest acts of kindness are worth it because they go a long way in making others feel seen, heard, and safe.
